Abstract
Two recent publications attempt to support the usefulness of ideology in conceptualizing trajectories of radicalisation and deradicalisation in terrorism research. Both papers translate ideology as the three dimensions of social action framing: diagnostic, prognostic, and motivational framing. This Research Note reviews the two papers to show that the measurement potential of the three frames is being lost in efforts to preserve the value of the concept of ideology. The question is raised: can we give up talk about ideology in terrorism research?
