Abstract

This draft consists of a catalogue of pottery from the 12th century through the Cistercian period of the monastery, and following the departure of the monks from the area at the site of Zaraka. Glazed, coarse, and cooking wares are represented, including Byzantine sgraffito, Italian maiolica and RMR wares, and handmade cooking wares.

This is a work in progress on the medieval pottery from the Canadian excavations at the Cistercian monastery at Zaraka in Stymphalos, Greece. The publication, The Cistercian Monastery of Zaraka, Greece, edited by Sheila Campbell, is forthcoming; this chapter will be chapter 7.
