75-minute Hands-on Workshop

Abstract

In this workshop we present Salon III, a redesigned version of Classroom Salon (http://classroomsalon.net) that was developed at Carnegie Mellon University. The platform allows instructors to upload their Text and PDF documents, YouTube/Vimeo videos and create a highly interactive learning experience for their students. The system provides student and instructor dashboards that can be used to improve the learning outcomes for the students. The platform has been used by thousands of instructors and students. The best use of Salon III has been its ability to support flipped classrooms and create deep discussions around content. In the workshop, all attendees will learn how to integrate their course documents into Salon III, create interactive activities, engage students and use dashboards and media analytics to drive their class. We will place a special emphasis on how to integrate Salon III to existing course management systems.
